A Solid Urban E-Bike with a Rugged Edge
Electric bikes come in all shapes and sizes, from lightweight commuters to rugged off-road machines. The Heda TX10 positions itself as a versatile hybrid e-bike, built for both city riding and light off-road trails. But does it live up to the promise? Let’s break it down.
Unboxing and Assembly
Right out of the box, the TX10 arrives mostly assembled, which is always a plus. The packaging is secure, with each component neatly wrapped to prevent damage during shipping. Assembly is straightforward—attach the front wheel, handlebar, pedals, and seat, and you're good to go.
If you've put together an e-bike before, expect 15 to 30 minutes of setup. Even if you’re a complete beginner, this is one of the easier bikes to assemble. So no worries—you’ll have it ready to ride in no time.
First Impressions
Visually, the TX10 doesn’t scream for attention, but its aluminum alloy frame feels sturdy and well-built. The 27.5 x 2.4-inch tires give it a slim, road-focused look, while still allowing for light off-roading when needed.
One thing that stands out is the weight—20 kg (45 lbs), which is relatively light for an e-bike of this size. While it's more manageable than bulkier models, don’t expect to carry it upstairs as easily as an ultralight carbon fiber bike like the Tezeus C8.
Specs and Features
Here’s what the Heda TX10 brings to the table:
Motor: 1000W brushless hub motor—plenty of power for city rides and moderate hills.
Battery: 48V 19.2Ah removable battery, offering up to 100 km (60 miles) of range on eco mode. Charging time: 5-6 hours.
Tires: 27.5 x 2.4-inch grippy tires, optimized for roads but capable of handling light off-road trails.
Suspension: Front suspension fork and rear shock absorbers for a smoother ride over bumps.
Brakes: Hydraulic disc brakes (though they feel more like lower-end mechanical brakes).
Drivetrain: 9-speed Shimano drivetrain, providing decent versatility.
Display: Minimalist LCD screen, showing speed, assist level, and battery status.
Riding Experience
On the road, the TX10 provides a comfortable and powerful ride, but it does have some quirks. Compared to bikes like the Haoqi Eagle, the TX10 can feel a bit wobbly, especially when riding hands-free. It’s not a major issue, but something worth noting.
At around 25 km/h (15.5 mph), the bike feels smooth and stable, delivering a balanced mix of power and control. While the official specs state a 1000W hub motor, my European version might be capped for compliance with local regulations. If it’s the same 1000W version as advertised, technically, it wouldn’t be street-legal in the Netherlands.
What Could Be Better?
While the TX10’s 9-speed drivetrain is functional, a wider gear range would improve steep hill performance. Also, while the hydraulic brakes are marketed as high-quality, they don’t quite match the stopping power of premium hydraulic systems.
Final Thoughts: A Balanced, No-Nonsense E-Bike
The Heda TX10 is a solid, no-frills e-bike that gets the job done. It offers a good balance of power, range, and affordability, making it a reliable option for city riders and occasional off-road adventurers.
While it’s not the flashiest or most high-performance e-bike out there, its value-for-money ratio makes it a worthy contender in its price range.
If you're looking for an affordable, dependable e-bike that blends urban functionality with a hint of off-road capability, the TX10 might just be what you need.
